PHARMACEUTIAL ECONOMICS RESEARCH

  Therapeutic experience: cardio-vascular, neuro-degenerative diseases, hyperlipidemia and hypertriglyceridemia, and osteoporosis and arthritis.

  Provide a variety of strategic planning and corporate financial advisory services. Most recently, now oversee the firm’s pharmaceutical economics and healthcare consulting practice. Develop and direct strategic plans in support of economic differentiation across clients’ product portfolios.

  Taught approximately twenty courses on-line for accredited undergraduate and MBA programs. Course topics include Budget Analysis, Strategic Marketing, and Financial Accounting, Health Care Economics, and Health Care Finance. Supervise 25 - 30 students per term in their academic courses. Previously served as dissertation committee chairman for two doctoral students.

  Design and present Health Outcomes/Pharmacoeconomics training materials necessary for marketing support of clients’ product portfolios. Research specialized areas of medical science in order to write or edit publication manuscripts and other materials that utilize this assimilated knowledge.

  Responsible for assuring the quality of content and format, as well as liaising effectively with both faculty researchers and clients. Train field scientific group to be able to successfully communicate economic and/or value demonstration messaging to external customers (e.g. managed care, insurers, federal regulators, etc.). Align plans with commercial strategy in order to help secure reimbursement, market access, formulary listing and promotional activities. Interact with FDA regulators as required.

  Utilizing a strong quantitative and statistical background, critique and discover the weakness in any medical study drawing statistical inferences from (clinical trial) data. Provide and develop health economics and outcomes projects in support of products currently in phase IIIb and phase IV studies.

  Lead the development of pharmacoeconomic models. Develop/support decision analytic models, patient surveys, budget impact models, systematic reviews, and cost-effectiveness models.

  Research medical/scientific topics, utilizing the various information services available, including in-house resources, libraries, and databases. Note: through my subscription to Lexis-Nexis, I can read and print articles from leading medical journals and news sources.

  Assimilate and utilize specialist knowledge, including that relating to disease area, product, opinion leaders, meetings, and journals. Effectively transfer information back to specialists concerning latest developments in the field, e.g., I persuaded a board certified oncologist to try a brand new drug treatment therapy (Forteo) for patients with low bone calcium density.

Managed cross-functional staff of eleven including a university professor and two graduate students working on a science forecasting project; one doctoral student in quantitative finance and another in operations research; two MBA students who shadowed me at work on Fridays; and four full-time staff with backgrounds in computer programming, linear programming optimization, and option pricing.
