Ascension of Jesus ChristThe Transfiguration of Jesus Christ Beatitudes Sermon on the Mount of Jesus Christ Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God

Our Lord IS the truth, but because of our finite minds we humans always have difficulty understanding truth. Probably it is because we wish we could understanding it with exactitude now and forever. Finite men are incapable of such understanding. Each baptized and even non baptized human uses their God given talents to either grow and develop or loses the opportunity to do so. (This is what a true instrument of God does.) The leaders of the religions, especially ours, can not understand much of scientific, philosophic or even theologic truth, but they seek to place around them men who agree with them. They fear openness to discovery. They fear personal and communal growth. With out the authoritative theologians - so many have been called not catholic theologians, without authoritative scientists - so many are not taken seriously because their discoveries threaten Tradition, without authoritative philosophers - so many have been placed on lists of books that Catholics should not read because our leaders fear them; without all these people taking part and influencing our leaders, our Bishops can hardly be called authoritative or be open to more profoundly understand God’s truth. Many of our leaders then make themselves omnipotent legalists and this hardly leads to spirituality. We all are finite human beings and when we listen to the Spirit and use our God given talents, we can make some progress toward more spiritual living. Our adult path to salvation is one we alone must choose. We must not limit ourselves by paying attention to people with closed minds!

One questioned you asked was do I believe in absolutes. Yes God is absolute but our finite minds only deceive themselves when we believe we understand anything absolutely.

Peace and more understanding,

Richard
