Dear Mike...... I love that there are those in the world, whether it is the Hopis praying with their dances so that
the world will not be wrecked by the rest of us, or the Carmelites and Cistercians, or the Buddhist hermits, that those
stay in prayer for the rest of us who can not afford to do it or who are unconscious of the need to do it..... Because,
there is this network of elevated homage, of contemplation, that keeps it together somehow. Or so my heart choses to
believe. Sufis teach that it actually takes only ten of these unrecognised saints to keep things in balance. And those
may not be known to the rest of us, ever. Maybe one or two little old ladies are helping with their worship.....
Maybe.once in a while one of us, on a Thursday night might contribute a little something, a nugget of light or good weight.
I don't much like the formula of Pleasing God. It feels calculating to me within my understanding. Am I a good girl?
Do you love me? Etc.... Rather, as we purify ourselves, remove as much of the selfish veiling from our souls, we
become less and less able to wilfully displease God because, God's presence becomes part of our nature. It is not
calculated.... So, I enjoy your questions. Keep it up.
Lovingly, Raiyan
