Dear Michael,
There are three churches which our priest must serve. All three of them have missalettes in all the pews. They are readily available to everyone. I personally enjoy just listening to the lector during the readings. I seem to get more out of it by looking and listening. It's only my personal preference.
This recently past Easter Vigil was wonderful in every way. It was a most blessed and sacred experience, as my wonderful husband of 64 (a former agnostic) was received into the Church after studying for 2 years in the RCIA class every Saturday morning for 3 hours. When the waters of baptism were poured over him, the Spirit touched him so deeply he cried. (The water was brought back from the Jordon River by his RCIA instructor after being blessed there.) Soon you could see many with tears of joy running down their face, our priest included!
I find no lack of reverence in our church, and I hope you find more peace and reverence in your parish as well. You are in my prayers.
God's peace, Michael.
Molly
