Dear Michael,

These distractions tend to bother us more or less depending on how much inner turmoil we are experienceing. When we are going through a “mountaintop” experience of God the most ill prepared and executed litugy can seem amazingly beautiful. When we are in a dry or dark period even the most wonderfully prepared and executed liturgy can leave us cold.

There is very little we can do about the hierarchy and there fascination with their own importance.

What we can do something about is ourselves.

Strict adherence to our daily prayer and meditation is the only cure I know of.
