So now when I read a post of yours, I can say, oh, he is talking to the
academics, the theologians.
Just the other day, I was talking with my husband about end-of-life
issues and told him, it is so important to talk about these things and
put them into writing. When my time comes, I would prefer to go
quickly, at home, with as little contact with doctors and hospitals (and
theologians and academics) as possible.
The prospect of dying can be frightening at times, but joyous, too, a
wonderful homecoming. When we love someone, we are willing to let them
go home when their time comes. In dying, we are born to eternal life,
in prayer we are dying to self, would Merton disagree?
