All dogs are members of my family, so I can just imagine what George
Anderson would see in my case. LOL
And, yes, dogs make wonderful therapists, my little corgi is a working
angel in a fur suit. I told someone, my spiritual director at that
time, that if God loves me half as much as I love my dog, we have
nothing, absolutely nothing to fear. And my director, who is
dog-phobic, said, "well God loves you much more than that." I couldn't
relate to those words, I don't see how another human being can be so
sure of such things, but what remains real to me is how much I love my
dog, how pleased I am with everything she does and, even in the case of
problem behavior, how I only want to correct her lovingly. How I love
her smile and the way she moves her body, the way she plays so cute with
her toys. What an athlete. What a superb little guard dog. Such
incredible resilience and bounceback. She never meets a person or
another dog who is not her friend -- this dear little 25 pound dog, with
a heart as big as Wales...
